Partnership-first AmpCharge EV charging bays launched at Stockland Shellharbour
Partnership-first AmpCharge EV charging bays launched at Stockland Shellharbour
Wednesday 02 July
Stockland and Ampol have announced the launch of ten AmpCharge electric vehicle (EV) charging bays at Stockland Shellharbour, marking the first installation under a long-term strategic partnership with Ampol.
Located in the centre car park near Woolworths, off Lake Entrance Road and opposite the bus stop and taxi rank, the ultra-fast charging bays are now available for customers, retailers, and the broader Shellharbour and Illawarra community to use.
This milestone enhances the customer experience at Stockland Shellharbour, allowing customers with EVs to charge their cars while they shop, dine, or attend an appointment.
Stockland Senior Centre Manager, Dean Young, said the charging infrastructure supports Stockland Shellharbour’s role as a key destination in the region.
“Stockland Shellharbour is a leading shopping destination in the Illawarra, welcoming more than 7.3 million customers last year. We’re proud to be the first Stockland town centre to offer Ampol’s AmpCharge EV charging under our strategic partnership with Ampol,” Mr Young said.
“Our community now has access to convenient, reliable, and fast charging infrastructure, meaning people can fully charge their car in the time it takes to do the weekly grocery shop, pick up the dry cleaning, and have a coffee.”
Ampol General Manager Energy Value Chain, Patrick Luxton said Ampol is continuing to evolve its business to support customers through the energy transition.
"Our at-destination alliances continue to complement Ampol's AmpCharge EV charging network capabilities, enabling customers to charge on-the-go at more convenient locations beyond the forecourt," Luxton said.
"This strategic partnership is important for the ongoing rollout of our EV charging infrastructure, and we're pleased to see AmpCharge go-live for the first time at one of Stockland's key shopping destinations in Shellharbour."
The installation at Stockland Shellharbour is the first step of a broader rollout to Stockland retail town centres nationally, which was announced in April 2024.
The partnership is in line with Stockland’s broader sustainability strategy, focusing on innovation, scale, and delivering real-world solutions that support customers’ transition to a low-carbon future.
