A new way to pay with FuelPay

Paying with FuelPay in the Ampol app has changed at selected Ampol Foodary sites. Now, before you fill up, you need to first open the app and choose your pump number.

Confirm your payment method

Choose how you’d like to pay

Pump & go!

Your payment will automatically be processed after you’ve filled up, but be sure to check it’s gone through before driving off.

Are all Ampol Foodary locations changing?

Initially, the new way to pay with FuelPay will only be available at a small number of sites including:

  • NSW – Merrylands, Croydon, Kensington, Rosebery, Tempe and Austral
  • VIC – Maidstone
  • SA – Direk
  • QLD – Nerang South
  • WA – Canning Vale

What happens if I go to a different Ampol Foodary to fill up?

If you choose to be part of our testing group, you will only be able to use the new way to pay with FuelPay at the Ampol  Foodary sites listed above.

In time, the new FuelPay experience will be available at ALL Ampol Foodary sites.

What if I forget and fill up before selecting my pump?

If you visit an Ampol Foodary site with the new FuelPay experience already  in place and you forget to open your app before you fill, you will need to pay for your fuel in-store using your AmpolCard or other payment method.

I have an in-app fuel discount. Can I still redeem this if I have to pay in store?

You will be able to redeem selected in-app discounts when paying in-store; these include the Ampol Energy fuel discount and app-exclusive shop offers available at the time. To redeem these offers please show your unique QR code  which is found on the ‘Rewards’ tab of the Ampol app at the counter when paying.

All other app discounts are only available at these sites when paying via FuelPay in the new way.

Will a pre-authorisation amount be taken from my payment method?

No, there will be no pre-authorisation charge when you confirm your payment method in the Ampol app. You will only be charged for the final amount of your fuel transaction after you’ve filled up.

What if my credit/debit card is expired?

If your saved credit/debit card is expired, the app will ask you to provide an alternate payment method. If you are unable to do this, you will need to head in-store to pay using cash or another payment method.

I use an AmpolCard for FuelPay. How does this affect me?

AmpolCard payments will be processed as usual if you select your pump in the app before you fill up. However, if you need to head in-store to pay, you will need your physical AmpolCard to finalise the transaction.

Why is this change happening?

As payment methods advance, we need to change how we do things. We understand change can be disruptive, but this will help us ensure we can continue to evolve our app to ensure your payments can be made even more securely and conveniently.
