Renewable Diesel

R100 Renewable Diesel

Ampol Renewable Diesel is a chemically similar drop-in for regular mineral diesel fuel that, compared with regular mineral diesel, can depending on the engine, equipment, operating conditions and feedstock source, deliver on a lifecycle basis immediate greenhouse gas reductions (GHG) across mobile and fixed plant diesel powered equipment.1

Ampol R100 Renewable Diesel is an important transition fuel as electrification and/or hydrogen solutions may take time to substitute diesel applications in difficult to abate industry sectors.

Ampol-sourced renewable diesel is manufactured by hydrotreating waste feedstocks including used cooking oil (UCO) and tallow, and provide carbon emissions reduction on a life cycle basis. 1

On a total life-cycle basis1, R100 Renewable Diesel can, compared to regular mineral diesel, significantly reduce CO2 emissions. The actual amount of CO2 emissions reduction depends on factors such as the engine, equipment, operating conditions, feedstock source and calculation methodology. Additional emission reduction benefits including particulate matter, CO and NOx, are also evident due to the paraffinic nature of the renewable diesel compared to regular mineral diesel. Due to the lower density of renewable diesel, there may be a slight increase in overall fuel consumption when using R100 Diesel compared to regular mineral diesel.

With each load of Renewable Diesel, we can issue a Proof of Sustainability for ISCC-certified material, which ensures customers can trace and verify the origins and greenhouse gas intensity of the product.

1 Renewable Diesel is an industry term for non-fossil derived, liquid hydrocarbon, drop in fuel suited for use in most modern diesel engines, which is manufactured from renewable feedstocks. Ampol-sourced Renewable Diesel is manufactured by hydrotreating waste and purpose grown feedstocks, including used cooking oil (UCO), tallow and canola oil. Life cycle GHG emissions are assessed for all product steps: cultivation, raw material transport, all processing steps, fuel transport, distribution and final use of the fuel. The sum of all product chain steps is compared to the sum of the fossil fuel production steps and the result is the GHG savings.

Amplify R20 Diesel Blend

Ampol R20 Amplify Diesel is a high-performance diesel containing up to 20% volume renewable diesel and designed to meet increasing demands of new diesel engines. Its unique, advanced formulation keeps hard-working engines healthier for longer.

Ampol R20 Amplify Diesel contains up to 20% volume renewable diesel which is a chemically identical drop-in diesel fuel that can deliver immediate greenhouse gas reductions (GHG) across mobile and fixed plant diesel powered equipment. Ampol sourced renewable diesel is manufactured by hydrotreating waste feedstocks including used cooking oil (UCO) and tallow, which are accepted waste streams and provide significant carbon emissions reduction on a life cycle basis.

On a total life-cycle basis, R20 Amplify Diesel can reduce CO2 emissions by up to 18% based on the chosen feedstock. Additional emission reduction benefits including particulate matter, CO and NOx are also evident due to the nature of the renewable diesel molecule.

Amplify R20 Diesel HD Blend

Ampol R20 Amplify Diesel HD is a high-performance diesel fuel containing up to 20% volume renewable diesel and specifically designed to meet increasing demands for better and more advanced fuels to deliver optimum performance in modern heavy-duty diesel engines.

Many OEM approvals exist for Renewable Diesel under the EN15940 specification for use in heavy duty road vehicles, passenger cars and off-road vehicles. Please consult your OEM for full approval information.

Ampol’s Renewable Diesel blends contain regular mineral diesel blended with Renewable Diesel. In the case of blends combining Renewable Diesel and Amplify Diesel, there is a combined benefit of reduced lifecycle emissions benefits together with the clean and protect properties of Amplify Diesel technology.
